Neapolitan Smoothie and Dessert

I am so super stoked to share this recipe with you! I’m guessing you can figure out where my inspiration came from. 😉  So, I was in the freezer section of my grocery store the other day, picking up some frozen cherries, and of course the ice cream is right next to it so I glanced over and saw one of my favorite childhood ice creams - Neapolitan! I mean, who doesn’t love 3 ice creams in one?!

Obviously ice cream isn’t a staple in our house, so I set out on a mission to recreate it at home, but in a healthier way. What I got was not one, but two new recipes to share with you! Good news - you only have to make it once - you decide once it’s made if you’re going to choose the smoothie or desert route.

I hope you enjoy as much as I did creating it!

NEAPOLITAN SMOOTHIE AND DESSERT

Ingredients

Vanilla:

  • 1/3 almond milk, unsweetened
  • 1/3 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used Jay Robb Egg White Protein)
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 banana, frozen

Chocolate:

  • 1/3 almond milk, unsweetened
  • 1/3 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1/4 banana
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder (optional superfood)
  • sprinkle of cacao nibs for topping (optional)

Strawberry:

  • 1/3 cup almond milk, unsweetened
  • 1/3 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 cup strawberries, frozen and hulled

Directions for smoothie:

Mix each flavor individually in blender and set aside. (I used my Ninja single serving cups to make it easier but any blender will do). Pour strawberry mix into glass as this will be the heaviest due to the amount of frozen berries. Next, pour the chocolate mix very slowly on top of the strawberry. Try to pour closest to the edge of the glass if you’d like to see the different layers. Lastly, pour the vanilla on top of the chocolate and enjoy!

Directions for smoothie dessert:

Mix each flavor individually in blender and set aside. Cover each glass with plastic wrap and place in freezer for 30 minutes or until slushy, but not completely frozen. Scoop strawberry into glass, followed by chocolate, then vanilla. Viola! You’ve got yourself a protein-packed healthy dessert!
