Apple Cinnamon Hemp Breakfast Bowl + Giveaway

I received a sample of Hemp Hearts from Manitoba Harvest to review and give away from my partnership with FitApproach. All opinions are my own. Full PR & Disclosure here.

Eggs, eggs, and more eggs. That’s usually my go-to breakfast. It’s fast, it’s full of protein, and it’s yummy. But sometimes, I get that tingling for something else and my only requirement is that it must be super easy, healthy, and quick to make.

This week I got that tingling feeling again and I decided it was time for some healthy cereal. I haven’t had cereal in forever so I was way overdue in creating something.

I received a package of Manitoba Harvest’s Hemp Hearts in the mail to review and it seemed like the perfect ingredient to use!

Before I received this, I was already a HUGE fan of Manitoba Harvest’s hemp hearts and I’ll tell you why.

  1. They taste great! I think they have a nutty flavor like pine nuts.
  2. All you have to do is sprinkle them on your favorite foods to get a boost of protein and omega 3’s & 6’s. Each 30 gram serving has 10 grams of protein and 10 grams of healthy omegas!
  3. They’re raw, vegan-friendly, and non-GMO!

Hemp Hearts are a perfect salad or yogurt topping and they’re also super easy to mix into smoothies. It really doesn’t get much easier to eat healthy when you have these nutty seeds on hand. 🙂

Apple Cinnamon Hemp Breakfast Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup hemp hearts
  • 3/4 cup quinoa, cooked
  • 1/2 cup vanilla almond milk, unsweetened
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon + more to sprinkle on top
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • liquid stevia extract, to taste (optional)
  • 1/2 apple, diced
  • handful hazelnuts, chopped

Directions:

To start - make sure you’ve got some quinoa cooked. I usually make a cup or two on Sunday for the entire week so I always have some on hand. Scoop 1/4 hemp hearts and place in cereal bowl with 3/4 cooked quinoa and add in 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Mix in 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a few drops of liquid stevia extract (optional) and heat in microwave for 15-20 seconds. Stir then top with diced apples, chopped hazelnuts, and sprinkle with cinnamon and enjoy!

This is definitely a new staple in my breakfast routine. I hope you love it as much as I do.  Leave a comment below and let me know! 🙂

  5. I usually just sprinkle them on my salads every day but this recipe will be a great change to my normal oatmeal. It’s cold in the mornings now and I love my oatmeal when it is cold. This will be a nice substitute.
