Apple Pie Smoothie

Well, it’s about that time.

I’m just a few days out from my 6 week postpartum appointment and if everything looks good, then I’ll get the green light to start exercising again! And with exercising…comes healthy eating.

It’s not that I haven’t already been eating healthy, it’s just that there may have been a few extra desserts sprinkled in from time to time. There’s also been those days where I could have been cast for the Walking Dead (thanks to countless baby feedings and sleepless nights) & meals may have consisted of a protein bar or a banana or even just a handful of nuts.

Needless to say, it’s time to kick it back into high-gear and get ready to lose this baby weight and start eating clean again!

To get back in the swing of things, I decided to make a healthy apple pie smoothie that would taste like dessert but also nourish my body and keep me satiated for hours.

Looking for a treat with half the calories? Top this smoothie off with a little whipped cream and some gluten-free graham cracker crumbs and enjoy, guilt free! (I used the new Crunchy Minis Vanilla Honey Grahams from Enjoy Life)!

Apple Pie Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup cashew milk, unsweetened
  • 1/2 banana, frozen
  • 1 apple, peeled and cored
  • 1/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 scoop Orgain Sweet Vanilla Bean protein powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice (or a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg & allspice)
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • handful of ice
  • whipped cream (optional)
  • Enjoy Life’s gluten-free crunchy mini vanilla grahams, crushed (optional)

Directions:

Mix first 8 ingredients together well in blender, until smooth. Pour into glass and enjoy. For a treat: top with whipped cream and Enjoy Life’s gluten-free mini vanilla honey grahams! You can even mix some of the crushed grahams into to the shake for a super yummy treat!
