2014 DDP Yoga Retreat Recap

WHAT A WEEK!!

Last year’s retreat was amazing, but this year…this year was SPECTACULAR!

Going into this retreat I had an idea of what to expect. My hubby and I attended last year so I knew about the AM & PM workouts, I knew where all the best places to eat and drink were (hello…Health Bar), and I knew the property, so I felt pretty prepared.  (If you missed the recap last year here they are: The Workouts, The People, The Food, Video Recap)

But what I wasn’t prepared for was TEACHING during the retreat & all the  SUPPORT I received when I did.

Truth be told, I was terrified to get up in front of all my peers.  Even though I’ve been teaching since October - there’s something different about teaching to people who you are connected with on such a personal level. People that inspire me and people who I’ve inspired…it’s just different.  Not to mention the fact that both Yoga-Doc and Diamond Dallas Page were there watching and critiquing our every move! BUT - once I got up on that stage and got in the groove - the feeling of fear went away and the love poured in!  The interaction during the workout was INCREDIBLE!  I can’t tell you how awesome it was to say “count it back” and actually have everyone count it back loud and clear!  It was music to my ears!

Another great experience I had at the retreat was getting to reconnect with all the wonderful people I met last year and all the people I had yet to meet from Facebook and teamddpyoga.  The people really make this program and being able to share a week with them was such an honor. Chef Duane stepped up to the plate this year and showed everyone just how amazing gluten-free food can be with his cooking demonstration.  I really loved his grilled marinated flank steak & tomato lasso sauce.  Delish!

All in all the retreat was a blast and we even had some time to go horseback riding and swim in an open cenote.  If you are thinking about attending the retreat next year - I highly suggest it.  You’ll meet the most amazing people, eat the most delicious foods, and take your workout to the next level!  Hope to see you there - BANG! :)

  1. This looks wonderful! I would love to go to a yoga retreat. It would be fun to go with a few friends but it would be just as great if it was just me, all by myself :)

  2. Yay! Thank you mama! The retreat was AMAZING and we totally have to do a workout sometime together - maybe via skype or google hangout :)
